Upgrade Zimbra Community Version CentOS 6

Ok, so we have a new version of Zimbra available, and we want to get the latest bugfixes, and security updates, Zimbra Even Lets us know in the Admin panel that there’s an update

we can check our version in the admin panel under help & about

Here’s the Basics Process for the Upgrade:

1) Use Common Sense – Make a backup of /opt/zimbra

2) go to the Zimbra Open Source Downloads Website

http://www.zimbra.com/downloads/os-downloads.html

from here right-click the 64-bit link, and select “copy link location”

cd /opt

do a wget to download the new version (it’s usually about 500Mb, so it may take a bit to download).

Once Downloaded, we need to extract

change into the extracted folder

run the install.sh just like in the original install

as you can see when you run the installer, it tells you that it will update the existing version to the new version

agree with the software agreement, if you agree

you will then be asked if you want to verify the integrity of the mail store (if you are smart you hit yes)

from here it asks if you would like to upgrade (P.S. if you have not made a backup, be smart and make one of the /opt/zimbra directory)

install any additional packages if necessary

Hit yes to continue and modify the system. This stops all services/processes.

upgrade complete, and services are coming back up, but there is plenty of waiting to do yet, don’t worry….

although all the stuff on the screen it constant, it’s good to at least know what’s going on, progress, etc.

it will sit here for a long while….

compeleted!

now that the upgrade is complete, let’s navigate to the Admin console

login, and check the version, and the server status

Server status is healthy

Zimbra has the latest version.

That’s it!
