SUSE said on October 16, 2026, that it has confirmed LaSuite runs cleanly across the Rancher ecosystem, giving organizations a path to host an open-source alternative to proprietary office suites on Kubernetes infrastructure they run themselves.
What LaSuite is
LaSuite is a collaboration suite built in the open by DINUM, the French government’s interministerial digital directorate. It covers secure messaging (Tchap), video meetings (Visio), file sending, collaborative documents, file storage and shared data. Every component is open source, and SUSE stresses that the project is vendor-neutral: no hosting or infrastructure partner, SUSE included, has exclusivity or governance rights. SUSE also notes that several components were built in cooperation with the Dutch and German governments.
What SUSE did
SUSE worked to make sure LaSuite deploys and runs on Rancher and its security-hardened Kubernetes distribution, RKE2, whether on premises, at the edge or in a sovereign cloud. Organizations can run the open-source stack on their own, or add SUSE’s commercial support for lifecycle management across clusters and maintained builds of the underlying components. SUSE says it plans to keep contributing to the LaSuite ecosystem as one of several deployment partners.
Why it matters
Digital sovereignty is a big theme in European IT right now, and collaboration tools are among the hardest workloads to move off big proprietary platforms. A tested path for running a complete suite on RKE2 gives sysadmins a concrete self-hosting option, and it’s another sign that Kubernetes is becoming the default way to package and run full application stacks, not just microservices.
