Tesla Adds 124 Model Ys in a Day, Lifting Its Texas Robotaxi Roster to 1,204

Tesla‘s robotaxi roster in Texas reached 1,204 vehicles as of October 30, according to trackers that read the Texas DMV’s motor carrier credentialing records. That’s up from 1,080 three days earlier.

What changed

  • The whole jump came from 124 newly listed Model Ys. The Cybercab count was unchanged.
  • The roster now holds 631 Model Ys and 573 Cybercabs.
  • Waymo’s Texas registrations rose to about 1,259 on October 29, which leaves Tesla roughly 55 vehicles behind in the state.

Context

The Texas roster has grown fast since June 9, when it listed 69 vehicles. Most of the recent growth had been Cybercabs, as in the days when it passed 927 and reached 970, so this batch of Model Ys stands out. The trackers stress that a registration is not proof that a car is giving public rides: the list shows VINs and models only, with no city and no driverless status.
