Red Hat, secunet and deepset Team Up on a Sovereign AI Cloud for Classified Data in Germany

A consortium of secunet, Red Hat and deepset is developing a cloud service with AI capabilities for government agencies and organizations in Germany that must handle classified information, based on NVIDIA technology. secunet published the announcement on October 26, saying the partners confirmed the plan at NVIDIA GTC Berlin, held October 20 to 22.

What’s being built

The offering is a curated, protected runtime as a service for AI applications that meets German legal requirements for classified material (known as Verschlusssachen). secunet will operate it from its own German data centers as part of its secunet cloud portfolio. Each partner brings one layer:

  • secunet provides the cloud and its SINA Cloud security architecture, which runs on NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs to isolate security tasks in hardware. secunet says those SINA Cloud security components are authorized by Germany’s BSI for classified information.
  • Red Hat supplies Red Hat AI Factory with NVIDIA for containerized cloud operations, running NVIDIA Nemotron open models on top.
  • deepset adds Haystack for orchestrating AI agents and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications.

Why it matters

Red Hat’s Christof Orth said open technologies “create freedom of choice and transparency” and are a foundation for digital sovereignty. The partners say customers will be able to choose and swap models, data, applications and components. It isn’t available yet: the next steps are integration, validation and the required approvals before secunet offers it. It builds on the Red Hat AI Factory with NVIDIA updates from GTC Berlin we covered last week.
