today i was required to find out what version of CentOS Linux i was running i figured this is a good one to share with everybody.
get yourself at a command line window with putty, or some sort of ssh client
from there type in the following:
and BAM! there it is! but wait, what kernel version am i running? type this command:
BAM! there it is, the Kernel Version of Linux, going a little bit further, what if we wanted to find out 32/64 bit? type this in the CLI:
Looks like we are running x86_64 (64bit) bit Linux!
